On Saturday, June 9, the Earthquakes hosted their first-ever Amateur Photographer Night, inviting non-professional photographers to shoot the team’s match vs. LAFC and share their favorite images on the Quakes’ website.
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do, etc.:
I am a 15-year resident of Gilroy, California and live with my parents and two younger siblings. I recently graduated from The Master’s University with a degree in Communications where I also was a starting pitcher on the baseball team.
What first got you into photography?
I started hanging out with friends at TMU that were interested in photography and filmmaking and I got to learn and collaborate with them. It sparked a passion in me that has continued for the last two years as I have grown and developed in the craft.
Favorite things to photograph and why:
I love to shoot people and landscapes. I love the feeling that I get when someone sees a really awesome picture of themselves that I took. Shooting landscapes is a way for me to show people the beauty of the world around them, even if it is a local landscape.
Why did you want to participate in this Quakes event?
To get a chance to become a pro photographer for a night and get up close and personal to the action on the field. It’s a very unique opportunity that I want to make the most of and take my style into a new arena.
