On Saturday, June 9, the Earthquakes hosted their first-ever Amateur Photographer Night, inviting non-professional photographers to shoot the team’s match vs. LAFC and share their favorite images on the Quakes’ website.
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do, etc.:
I’m 25 years old. I was born and raised in San Jose, CA. I have a 9-5 job in the morning at Google and I do all my photography after work and on the weekends.
What first got you into photography?
To be honest, there was a point in my life where I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. My big brother saw that I enjoyed being behind the camera (IPhone at the time) so he went out of his way to buy me my first official camera. I picked up the camera one and half years ago, learned everything on my own and I haven’t put it down ever since. I found what I wanted to do. So huge shout out to Prince sole for believing in the kid.
Favorite things to photograph and why?
My favorite thing to photograph would have to be hip hop concerts/festivals and sports. I enjoy doing concerts/festivals because it’s like my happy place. I get to watch and capturing memorable moments while my favorite artist performs. I also enjoy shooting sports events because I love sports. I’ve always been around it since I can remember. It’s always fun and positive vibes.
Why did you want to participate in this Quakes event?
The reason I wanted to participate in the Quakes event was because my goal one day is to get the chance to work for the San Jose Earthquakes and be their photographer. I mean who wouldn’t want the opportunity to shoot their hometown soccer team? I love soccer so being a part of this event was a huge moment in my life and I got a taste of what it’s like to shoot a earthquakes game.
