On Saturday, June 9, the Earthquakes hosted their first-ever Amateur Photographer Night, inviting non-professional photographers to shoot the team’s match vs. LAFC and share their favorite images on the Quakes’ website.
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from, what do you do, etc.:
I’m from Cupertino, CA. I lived in Colorado and Oregon as well and am moving to Lake Tahoe at the end of this month! I worked at Cupertino Union School District as an Instructional Assistant for an SDC class. I will be going back to my roots and working in the outdoor industry in Lake Tahoe.
What first got you into photography?
I have always loved and appreciated the outdoors. My husband bought me a nice camera for Christmas about 10 years ago. I have been a little obsessed since.
Favorite things to photograph and why?
When I first started out I was mostly photographing my son’s wrestling tournaments and really enjoyed that. My favorite thing to shoot now is wildlife & nature with a focus on birds.
Why did you want to participate in Quakes event?
My friend sent me a link and thought I should enter the contest. It’s a little outside my comfort zone but was definitely up for the challenge!
